This article addresses the impacts of differential preservation in an alkaline shell midden (fig. 1) overlying an acid soil which does not allow bone to survive. This midden accumulated over an extended period and displays unusual traits attributable to practices of a ritual nature (Le Bihan et Méniel, 2002). Excavation extended to approximately 1000 square metres (fig. 2). Bone was collected on a quarter-metre grid by individual context (fig. 3). Some 35,000 animal and bird bones were recovered; fish bones, which were very numerous, are presently still under study. L’opération archéologique menée à Hermé, carrière Synéos (SPM) - tranche 6 des diagnostics archéologiques a permis de mettre au jour des occupations diachroniques néolithique et protohistorique.Ce diagnostic s’est déroulé sur deux parcelles distinctes pour une surface globale de 102 922 m2, une première au lieudit le Château Duduit et la seconde au lieudit La Patûre aux Bœufs.Sur l’emprise du Château Duduit nous avons mis au jour un petit amas de vingt-cinq pièces lithiques daté du Néolithique. International audience; Une meule rotative issue des fouilles programmées de l’éperon barré du Châtelard de Lijay dans les années 1970 peut aujourd’hui être datée de La Tène B2. Ce nouvel exemple de meule rotative pour cette période en Gaule centrale est analysé dans une perspective régionale.

The study is based on approximately 600 monetary images attributed to Arverni, Bituriges, Carnutes, Aedui, Lingones, Sequani, Parisii, Meldi and Senones. Monetary images form the largest iconographic set provided by the Celts but paradoxically, they are not considered at their fair value in the current research. Indeed, their study is a relatively recent discipline because the Celts left no text allowing their understanding. The different themes of the images relate to religion, society and aristocracy of Iron Age.
